Abstract:Prenatal abuse is one that occurs before birth. Comprises those actions or circumstances that intentionally or negligently can injure the fetus, causing the baby to be born with an abnormal growth, abnormal neurological patterns or symptoms of physical dependence, among others. This article aims to guide practitioners to detect risk situations in the pregnant woman to start prevention work in order to avoid the appearance of such negative consequences in the future baby and prevent the situation rises to a judiciary. We also intend to emphasize the importance of prenatal abuse prevention and awareness by describing the different effects that can cause the fetus and neonate. It has come to the conclusion that we have a kind of complex and multifactorial abuse in which an interdisciplinary and coordination work between different professionals, both social and health, is needed to make possible the early detection and prevention prenatal abuse situations and to intervene in the issue in a holistic manner. It also concluded the need to educate the general public and professionals in all fields, on the consequences that can cause this type of abuse in the newborn and trauma may involve removing a baby to understand the seriousness of this problem and the importance of working for prevention.
