Abstract:Following the implementation of practices of Social Work in Argentina I could impregnate and knowing other perspectives and forms of intervention. From this experience, what most intrigued me was the critical and transforming perspective of the discipline and profession of Latin American Social Work. From contextualization and analysis of Social Work is in Latin America, from its inception to the present. Understanding the profession as a process in permanent construction and it is immersed in a political and social context that is not static because it is in constant movement fruit of internal contradictions that reside within a society. I intend to place special emphasis on the conceptualization Movement since this entailed a turning point, in 1965, in the profession. This Movement sought to break with the assistance based dynamic specific action to address social emergencies. The ideas raised by the Re-conceptualization Movement served as a bridge to more critics and questioners of the prevailing economic, political, social and cultural system approaches. That is, among other things, led to understand that the relations of social inequality are the result of the capitalist mode of production, based on which is precisely the capitalist system generator of social inequalities. Therefore what I pursue, through awareness, commitment and involvement and taking into account the contributions of Latin American background, it is to generate a deep reflection on our profession and discipline as a prelude to an intervention that will ultimately allow for a real social change.
