Abstract:
Introduction: The Kangaroo Mother Method (KMC), is a practice that is carried out in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) to premature new-borns. It is a non-invasive technique, easy to use and low cost, which provides many benefits to infants and their parents. The nursing staff is in charge of encouraging parents to carry out the method, explain its benefits and answer any questions. Objective: To describe the benefits of Kangaroo Mother Care in premature new-borns. Methodology: 6 databases were used (Cinahl, Cuiden, Google Academic, PubMed, Scielo and Scopus) to perform a literature search according to the theme, between articles published between 2012 and February 2019, using the following Boolean search strategies: [" Método Canguro"], [" Kangaroo Moher Care "AND" Benefits "], ["Kangaroo Mother Care "and" Effects "], [" Kangaroo Mother Care"], [" Skin-to-skin Care"]. Results: After the search, 546 articles were obtained, which after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in 25 articles. Analysis: It was carried out through a classification of the results: general characteristics of the articles and analysis around the proposed objectives. Conclusion: The different biopsychosocial benefits of KMC have been found, the experiences that parents have about this method and the interventions carried out by nursing professionals. These are very important, since without them many of the parents would not perform the method because of their ignorance
