    Abstract:
The price of electricity in the last two years, since the Covid-19 pandemic, has been at the centre of all kinds of economic, social and political debates. The electricity bill has increased by up to 88% in 2022 compared to 2021, generating unease among the population. For this reason, the work is based on looking at whether renewable energy, which a priori seems to be a determining variable to deviate the electricity price trend, produces movements in the price, in what way it does so and whether it is decisive for the change. Before moving on to the analysis, the current structure of the electricity market is reviewed, explaining each of its four stages and how the electricity price is formed. Through previous analysis, a multiple linear regression model is applied, using a time series, to analyse the impact of the special regime on the price of electricity from 2018 to 2022.
