| Resum: | El coneixement es considera la base de l'avantatge competitiu nacional en el mercat internacional (Ozga i Jones, 2006). La investigació produeix coneixements i s'ha convertit en el centre del creixement econòmic en l'actualitat, en l'anomenada Economia del coneixement (Peters, 2002; Kenway et al., 2004). El paper central del coneixement es confirma fins i tot pel Banc Mundial, en la seva publicació Construint economies del coneixement: La innovació contínua i basada en el mercat és la clau de la competitivitat i, per tant, del creixement econòmic, en l'economia del coneixement. Això requereix no només una sòlida base científica i tecnològica, sinó també la capacitat d'enllaçar la recerca fonamental i aplicada, per convertir els resultats d'aquesta investigació en nous productes, processos de serveis o materials i fer que aquestes innovacions arribin al mercat ( Banc Mundial, 2002, pàgina 21). Several are the concomitant factors enabling the development of the knowledge transfer, first among all the awareness that university knowledge is at the basis of innovation and business productivity, generating relevant competitive advantages. Public policies have focused on fostering kind of mechanisms, both at national and European level. However, the knowledge transfer is a complex process, involving several actors and different objectives, often conflicting. Our review of the literature reveals that the obstacles to an effective and efficient knowledge transfer are numerous and of various nature, ranging from incentive system at individual level to process managing at institutional level as well as at national and European level. We focus on the tree main knowledge transfer mechanisms, namely licensing, patenting and start-up companies. Extant studies show that steps have been taken but there is still long way to go. Suggestions for policy makers and management are provided, and implications are discussed in the concluding section. |
