Abstract:
Tourism in Colombia has shown a slow but favorable growth in recent years. This change began two decades ago with the general tourism law (law 300 of 1996) and the subsequent implementation of policies and plans for its development. Taking this into account, the current paper focus the analysis about tourism development of the Boyacá department; describing, analyzing and contrasting the actions set out in the most recent plans concerning tourism, and subsequently offering some reflections and considerations as a conclusion with the aim of understanding why the tourism industry has not been able to consolidate yet as an axis of economic, social and environmental development of the Boyacense region.
