Abstract:This Final Degree Project intends to define the economical compensation due to working reasons in the Catalan Civil Code. It studies its purpose as well as its constitution and it analyses, furthermore, the jurisprudence that has considerably contributed to build this instrument that seeks to rebalance the spouses’ patrimony. It deals with a situation where the couple’s confidence has been concerned by the extinction of the marriage rules. Therefore, the aim of this institution is to balance the economical situation of the married couple in two different situations: either one of them has spent more time working for their house situation or one of them has worked for the other one, with no remuneration or an insufficient one. Moreover, it’s necessary for the debtor spouse to have obtained a patrimonial rise during the matrimony as well as it’s essential that they had established the separation of marital property, in order to determine that this economical imbalance is the main reason for the compensation. The stable unions of couples have also the same rules on economical compensation due to working reasons.
