Abstract:Summary TFG English Indústria Petroquímica Tarragona (IPT) has a chemical division where this work has been done specifically in the Department of Environment. IPT Química is geographically located near a river and an extensive network of groundwater flowing into the same river. This paper deals with the installation of a preventive remediation system using monitoring wells building to combat future problems sealing the biological-‐1 reactor (PACT-‐1) on Wastewater Treatment plant. The monitoring wells are underground ducts with exit to the surface with a variable deep and diameter, made by a survey in a specific area for further study of some of the natural elements (water and/or soil) that are between the surface and the end of the hole. The remediation system is selected through the analysis of different factors such as location, hydrogeology of the area, depth, pollutants that reach the ground TAR and functionality of each system remediation . Once the remediation system is chosen, the location is studied through hydraulic gradient lines to justify the direction of flow of groundwater. After the installation of the piezometric network made, we proceed to the elaboration of a lithologic court to study the hydrogeology of the area. Then is developed a sampling groundwater efficient protocol by analyzing all the factors of this, from the choice of sampling material to storage, labeling and transport. Finally, a brief description of the three treatment processes applied to water that reaches the TAR plant; Wet oxidation, biological treatment and sludge regeneration.
