Abstract:This work has been done in the Valls Analytical Laboratory, it is a laboratory for analysis and control of quality. They are mainly dedicated to water, food and soil analysis. . The main objectives are to determine the quality parameters necessary to validate the method for determining sodium and magnesium in biscuits by atomic absorption and emission spectrometry. These parameters are linearity, linearity interval, detection and quantification limits, selectivity, precision and veracity. The other objective is to decide which technique is most appropriate if the EAA or EEA to determine the sodium in the biscuits. . The sample used in the validation is the certified reference material used as reference LGC7 103 Sweet digestive biscuit. . The linearity interval obtained to determine sodium by atomic emission spectrometry is 0,8 to 10 mg/L. The detection and quantification limits respectively are 0,05 and 0,17 mg/L. . In the case of Na determined by absorption the linearity interval goes from 0,8 to 10 mg/L. The detection and quantification limits are respectively 0,10 and 0,34 mg/L. . For the Mg determined by atomic absorption spectrometry the linearity interval ranges from 0,2 to 2,5 mg/L. The detection and quantification limits are respectively 0,03 and 0,10 mg/L. . In all three cases it has been shown that the method is precise and truthful. Therefore, it is also accurate. . The EEA and EAA are ideal for determining Na in biscuits, but it is preferred to use the EEA because the same flame is the source of radiation.
