Abstract:Since the beginning of the history of tourism, both education and culture have been considered some of the motivations to travel the world. Cities, museums and architectural monuments have motivated tourists to carry out their trips, but also should be noted that there are other cultural events that motivate tourists to travel: the customs of the area, dances, music and languages, for example. This makes these elements in resources with great potential, able to attract travellers in order to immerse themselves in the culture at the time of visit destination. Well, among all these cultural manifestations include languages, conceived today as a tourist and economic resource. Therefore, they have emerged various sub-segments of cultural tourism that aim to meet the demands of an increasingly demanding and specific audience. The great importance is having learning foreign languages it has led to the emergence of a new type of tourism called “Idiomatic Tourism“. In this paper the presence of this phenomenon is analyzed in the city of Tarragona. The importance of language as a tourist resort able to motivate the movement of tourists to a destination, specifically the development of Language Tourism in the city of Tarragona is studied. Analysis and diagnosis of the current stage of Linguistics Tourism in Spain and in the province of Tarragona, in collaboration with the Center for Hispanic Studies of the URV, public institution proposing this type of language stays is performed. An analysis of its “linguistic holidays“ to detect shortcomings in the field of complementary activities and thus to generate a proposal for tour packages and promote them to offer solutions to the identified shortcomings is done (in terms of demand courses) and that simultaneously function as attractive to attract this type of tourism.
