Abstract:ABSTRACTThe subject of the present work is based on the consequences, in the family nucleus, that are derived from the hospitalization of children due to a chronic illness. Considering that when a child suffers from a pathology, the consequences will affect not only him, but also his or her environment, especially his or her parents. The main objective of the work has been studying the main effects of this situation. In addition, among others, to know what the possible nursing interventions during this process wereand how effective they were. The methodology of the work has been the literature review of clinical trials published in the last ten years that analyse the consequences of a child’s hospital admission. After the selection of 14 articles, from different countries and with different results, the conclusions have been that: in general, fathers and mothers care more than children about the need for hospitalization because of a chronic illness, the female caregiver profile prevails over the male one, and the main consequences are psychological and social.
