Abstract:The following final degree project focuses on analyzing the neologisms derived from proper names. First, for the realization of this analysis, it has been done an introduction to the neology and its types, to the suffix classes and to the relational adjectives, because these are the key subjects to understand the later study. Secondly, it is presented the Bank of neologisms, corpus with which has been worked to achieve the objectives of the presented project. Third, it is analazed the eight suffixes resulting from the neologisms obtained (-ano / - ana, -ino / -ina, -ista, -esco / -esca, -ense, -il, -ico / ica and -ero / -era) taking into account the following guidelines: covering the years 2004-2010, being adjectives derived from proper names and being created by suffixation. Once this part has been done, it is related the theoretical part with the analysis performed and it is extracted the following information: what suffixes present homonymy, the adaptation of the proper names of a foreign language, what suffixes have morphological doublets, the presence of Spanish of America in the neologisms or if the neologism is created from the first name or surname, among other aspects. However, the analysis is mainly done to conclude which suffix is the most productive and which ambit belongs among the four established: politics, geography, culture or sports.
