Abstract:
Succinate, a metabolite produced by the intestinal microbiota and the host. In the context of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), a term that encompasses Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), there is an association between elevated levels of this metabolite in the intestine, disease activity and dysbiosis. This study aims to evaluate succinate levels as a biomarker of EC activity and explore its relationship with other variables, such as intestinal microbiota or inflammatory markers.
