Abstract:This thesis focuses on the idea that Grammar Translation Method is a better tool to use than the Communicative Language Teaching approach when teaching English grammar to Spanish/Catalan native speakers at an elementary level (A2). The hypotheses behind this paper were that, first, students would learn better and more accurate English grammar, second, students could understand better how grammatical features work when doing translation-based activities, and, finally, they would be more confident in their linguistic knowledge when taught using GTM.
