Medicina, màgia i religió és un text fundacional de l’antropologia mèdica que indaga sobre el vincle –gairebé indissoluble en moltes cultures– entre aquestes tres institucions socials. A partir de les seves dades etnogràfiques sobre les cultures de Melanèsia i d’altres obtingudes d’informes antropològics, l’autor ens endinsa en la diversitat de concepcions etiològiques i diagnòstiques de les malalties i en la naturalesa social i simbòlica de l’art de guarir.
