Medicine, magic and religion is a foundational text in medical anthropology that investigates the almost unbreakable link in many cultures between these three social institutions. Using ethnographic data on the cultures of Melanesia and other data from anthropological reports, the author immerses us in a plethora of etiological and diagnostic perceptions of illnesses and in the social and symbolic nature of the art of healing.
