Abstract:This project consists of removing as much as possible of carbonates from the waters of oxidation of CO plant aiming to avoid precipitation in wastewater tank 15B200 and continue thus, complying with the license of activity of Covestro S.L, which marks the limit of solids from the spill in 250 mg/L. The waters of oxidation of CO plant (with pH 13.3) contain a high concentration of ions carbonates which can precipitate and clog pipes and equipment at later stages. The method of acidification with hydrochloric acid is used to remove these carbonates. This reaction product is clear of carbon dioxide causing cavitation in pumps, with the consequent problems of operation with the current installation. To solve this problem, is designed a stage of continuous operation capable of managing discontinuous load of oxidation of CO plant and treat these waters to continue complying with the license of activity and to avoid operational problems described above.
