Montserrat García MartínezCurso 2019-2020 AbstractIntroduction:Premature newborns have higher morbidity and mortality compared to term infants due to their premature birth. Birth before 37 weeks of gestational age is considered premature. (4)The normal rectal temperature in term and preterm infants is 36.5 to 37.5°C. Although hypothermia isa core temperature <36 to 36.5 ° C, cold stress can occur at higher temperatures when loss heat requires an increase in metabolic heat production.1)Objective:To identify the most effective methods to avoid hypothermia in postpartum premature newborns.Methodology:Abibliographic review of studies published in the last ten years, in the Pubmed, Cinahl, Dialnet and Scopus databases. Results:Eleven selected articles met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The methods found have been skin-to-skin, leg warmers, polyurethane-lined hats, vinyl and polyurethane insulation bags, alert bracelets and monitoring of hypothermia on several occasions, reducing the frequency of baths. Of all these, the most widely used and cheapest is the skin-to-skin method. All the selected studies have been carried out in foreign countries. Conclusions:The results obtained show that applying the different methods reduces hypothermia in preterm infants. Even so, as a future line of research, new research could be considered in themost precarious countries. Keywords:Hypothermia, newborn, premature and infant.
