Abstract:Borderline personality disorder (BPD) consists of a pattern of intense impulsivity, emotional instability, and problems with identity and interpersonal relationships, with a prevalence of 1.4-5.9% in the general population adult and incidence apparently three times greater in women. Although the exact cause is unknown, BPD is suspected to be the result of the interaction of genetic and environmental factors, some authors focus on childhood trauma and others place great importance on attachment theory by Bowlby and Ainsworth. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the relationship between BPD and attachment, drug addiction and trauma in users of the CASD (Drogodependency Care and Follow-up Center) of Tarragona through a series of tests that have been passed in the sample of 13 participants (N=13) of this research. The results obtained show that the most prevalent substance, with 84.63% of the sample, is alcohol. In addition, 84.62% of users present an insecure attachment, with the predominant style being anxious (53.85%) and no statistically significant relationship has been observed between adverse experiences during childhood and attachment styles Finally, all participants have experienced some traumatic experience in their life, the majority (69.23%) have experienced the sudden death of an important person for them.
