Abstract:Nowadays, translation is a fundamental function, as it opens many doors to new knowledge related to other languages. Translators allow us to immerse ourselves in other cultures, as they enable everyone to access any kind of document, even if it is in another language. This dissertation aims to analyse the translation of the first book of the Harry Potter saga, written in English, into Catalan. For this purpose, different phraseological units are selected from the source text, seeking at the same time their translation into the target text. With this analysis it can be seen that the translation used in the book analysed is a complete and elaborated translation.
