Abstract:
Behavioral problems in children and dietary patterns such as the Mediterranean Diet during pregnancy have been linked. The objective was to evaluate the effect of maternal adherence to the Mediterranean Diet on the behavior of their children at 4 years of age. Adherence to the Mediterranean Diet (rMED) of 228 mothers during the first trimester of pregnancy and children's behavior were estimated using the Child Behavior Checklist 1½-5 (CBCL). A high rMED showed a protective effect in the offspring, decreasing behavioral problems.
