Abstract:This project focuses on polycaprolactone (PCL), a polyester that stands out for its excellent physical and chemical properties and, above all, for its biodegradability. This set of properties allows a great diversity of applications in different fields, especially in bioengineering. The different methods of preparing the polymer by means of ring opening (ROP), radical ring opening (RROP) and polycondensation are also considered. On the other hand, the MALDI-TOF analysis technique is considered, which is especially indicated for polymers analysis due to its low degree of ionization that greatly reduces macromolecules fragmentation. This section describes the different variables that influence spectrum recording, such as: sample preparation, matrix and cationizing agents, type of detector and laser source ... etc. Finally, a work project is proposed, consisting of the study of the ROP polymerization of -caprolactone (CL) by varying different reaction variables (temperature, monomer / initiator / catalyst reaction time, etc.) ratio of polycaprolactone (PCL) and using stannous octanoate (Sn(Oct)2) as catalyst. UV-MALDI-TOF technique is proposed for the structural characterization of the obtained polymers.
