Resum: © 2015, Universidad de Granada. All rights reserved. One of the main goals of waste management policies is to increase separate collection rates of municipal waste. Influence exerted by an institutional awareness campaign in the improvement of separate collection of waste has been analyzed by means of the Causal Chain Approach. The case of study has been the municipality of La Sénia, located in the Southwestern of Catalonia, and the campaign «Envàs, on vas?» performed by the Catalan Government. The chosen methodology allows measuring the causation link between the awareness campaign and the improvement of separate collection rates by means of the contribution of each person rather than making a binary classification. The results show the uplift in the probability of the improvement created by the campaign is 16.6%.
