Abstract: Nowadays destinations implement new technologies in order to be smart and to generate satisfactory experiences to tourists, but it is difficult to evaluate and compare their degree of smartness. In this study the (SA)6 framework has been used to evaluate the smartness of destinations and to create a ranking of smart tourist destinations. The (SA)6 model comprises 6 main dimensions of analysis and 57 indicators. The weights of each indicator have been determined by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the values of each destination are aggregated into a single score by applying the Weighted Ordered Weighted Averaging operator (WOWA). The selected case studies for the analysis are 5 Spanish destinations with different characteristics and levels of smartness. The (SA)6 framework has been shown useful for the analysis of specific aspects of smartness and for the creation of a ranking between destinations.
