Design of a corrector method for emisions of VOC's

    Abstract:
    The project consists in the design of a corrector method to control the emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) of a flexographic factory. The problem of the company is that it has more emissions of the legal permission for those compounds for this type of factory, having to pay the different fines. Firstly, we have analysed the different possibilities that we can apply, spending a special effort in the Best Available Technics (BAT). For deciding which of those methods we can use, we have to think in two different things; the most important one is that we have to respect the limit of emissions of the law that in our case is fixed in 100 mg/Nm3. The second one is the cost that will has the implantation of the equipment, the cost of the investment and the operate one. One time delimited the decision method we choose a BAT, in this case a thermic catalytic oxidiser, although it would have been better to choose a thermic regenerative oxidiser because of the energy saving that it has. After that we can make the economic study. This study has been divided in to parts; on the first hand, one is the cost that would have the closure of the factory, including the dismantling, the cost of the fines and the workers compensations, and in the other hand, the cost of the new method, including the investment cost, the operative one and the maintenance. When we have both economic balances we decided that we have to closure the factory because it wouldn’t be profitable to have it open. Finally, we have realized a study of the gains that should has the factory to achieve the viability of the process, designing the important equipment and studying the environmental impact that would have our process in the environment.
