Abstract: The approval of the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) has supposed a deep change in the way of managing water and understanding our relationship with the hydrological environment. One of the main challenges that WFD suggests is just a change of mentality in the water management. In order to face with success this change of mentality, it is necessary a co-work of all the interested social agents as well as a great work of social pedagogy.Convinced that language and free thinking can be transformed by the free knowledge and the truth, the need to promote a cultural change in the society, urges. This necessity should generate a different hydrological language. Besides, it is full of historical inertias and “hydrotopics” that prevent to advance towards a New Water Culture.
