    Abstract:
    This work is an study of the interethnic relations betwen mestizos and indigenous in the city of Oaxaca (Mexico). The observation's unity of observation was the Guelaguetza, the principal festivity of the city. Is celebred in the months of july. In this festivity, the indigenous of the seven regions of Oaxaca arrive at the city for to make an exhibition of your traditional dances. This festivity was created at the 1951, with the objective of the turistic atracttion.The metodology chase two lines: to analyze the celebrity how a invented tradition, and to observe the festivity how a interactional space because in those moments, indigenous and mestizos are found and they are to celebrate the 'Espectáculo folklórico más grande de América'.The Guelaguetza provide elements for to support the oaxaqueño's indentity, but is, in the self moment, a space for to reaffirm the social segregational and reforzar the social orden in force. In this way, the celebrity is construid how a form to reaffirm the imaginaries indigenous on the urban contex, how the imaginaries mestizos on the indigenous society.The Guelaguetza, also, maintain the social estructure, the primacy of the city with respect to rural towns, and justify the social injustices.
