Abstract:
Premature birth interrupts a bonding process between parents and child that began since conception, and involves the entrance to a neonatal unit. From the new care paradigm centered in development and family, the aim of this thesis is to analize if nurses respond to the parents needs, in order to establish a good binding with their premature children in the neonatal unit. This is a qualitative study, with a hermeneutic phenomenological design, based on Heidegger’s ontological philosophy. The results show that parents need and receive care from: their feelings about the premature birth and the entrance to the neonatal unit; its structure effects, the ambience and rules; the personal relationships that take place; the perception from their child’s image and their close environment; and the experience of their relationship.
