Abstract:
This research tries to investigate on the pedagogical knowledge of the university teaching staff of Los Andes University - Táchira, and its implications in education to establish, from them, the base lines for the pedagogical formation.The investigation is developed at two moments, first where it undertakes the interpretative study of speeches and actions of professors about education and, the second where the analysis of students opinions about the situation is approached.In order to develope this research, interpretative directions and the biographical inquiry are used like investigation method; the data are gathered through the biographical interview, the observation logs, coaching of investigation and the questionnaire.After the interpretation, the results indicate that the pedagogical formation of the teaching staff is weak, dispersed, confused, that their knowledge about teaching tend to be intuitive, artistic and it is generally implicit and not public. In addition a nonexistent culture is appraised towards the professional development in the institution.It is concluded that it is necessary to promote and to lead processes of professional formation and/or professional development for the pedagogical formation of the teaching staff from their own experiences of education.Key words: pedagogical formation, pedagogical knowledge, education, formation of the teaching staff, professional identity, professional and personal development, teaching-learning process.
