Resumen:
The main purpose of this thesis is to assess the success of professional agricultural training within its specific sector within the Camp de Tarragona. Taken into consideration are the factors of students' origin, employment potential and course relevance with regard to the agricultural sector. External effectiveness of the program has been evaluated based on three factors: Influence on agricultural development, increase in status of the workers and the consequential technological improvement. In this study followed a method based on the evaluation of programs employing; quantitative (surveys), qualitative (interviews) and mixed techniques (Delphi questionnaires). The collective object of this educational training at which we wish to evaluate consists of, primarily, professionals from the agricultural sector and individuals who wish to join it. But in order to assess correctly the real effects of the program we defined population, in function of the real relationship with the program, be that direct (target group), or indirect (educational services, assisting employers...): former students, current students, teachers, agricultural workers and agricultural educators. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:- The decrease in employment within the sector and the implementation of LOGSE has caused a decrease in enrollment in the program, concentration of students within the sector in cicles de grau mitjà (intermediate level).- The students that participated in this program, particularly in agricultural specialties, enter the sector with the advantage of being more readily employable. Those who studied forestry had difficulty finding work in the rural area of Tarragona.- The initial preparation of students who studied intermediate level was deficient. The curse curriculum was excessively extensive and required a number of hours in order to accomplish the defined objectives.- The courses that were most deficient and need improvement were as follows: risk and safety management, information science and computer applications. Students should simultaneously study English or other foreign language, especially the advanced students and those of the garden program. These studies, alone did not contribute to the on-going training of workers within the sector.-The influence of the agricultural trainers on the technological improvement is very limited. Finally, I would like to mention the conclusions, reflections, and considerations that derive from the present work, suggesting future fields of research, in terms of recommendations and liability of studies that will allow enrichment of future interventions in the field of the professional agricultural training.
