Abstract: The diabetic foot is a chronic complication of Diabetes Mellitus and constitutes a sanitary problem which causes not only enormous expenses for the sanitary system but also provokes emotional repercussions for the person who suffers t the illness and for the family. It is estimated that 15% to 25% of diabetic patients are affected in the course of their life for an ulcer in the skin that eventually can originate an amputation of the patient’s foot. Objectives: The objective is to identify the perception of the risk and knowledge that have the DM 2 on the diabetic foot. Material and method: For the realization of this work has used a literature review on the basis of data such as Pubmed, Care and others, where you will select 20 scientific articles that talk about perception and degree of knowledge of the patients. Results: Different authors have agreed that there is a deficiency in the degree of knowledge as well as lack of perception about the risks, this leads to serious problems in these people as they have a poor quality of life. Conclusions: It may be concluded that the degree of knowledge and the perception of the persons are two very important factors to prevent the diabetic foot. Not to have these factors and the adequate care of the potential may trigger the likelihood of an amputation of the lower limbs. Pertinent proper health education means educating the patient and skills to meet the demands of disease. El peu diabètic és una complicació crònica de la Diabetis Mellitus i constitueix una problemàtica sanitària al comportar una enorme despesa econòmica als serveis sanitaris i provocar a les persones que la pateixen i al seu entorn familiar grans repercussions emocionals. Es calcula que del 15% al 25% de les persones diabètiques es veuran afectades en el transcurs de la seva vida per una úlcera en el peu que finalment pot originar una amputació del propi peu. L’objectiu: és identificar la percepció de risc i coneixements que tenen les DM 2 sobre el peu diabètic. Material i Mètode: Per la realització d’aquest treball s’ha utilitzat una revisió bibliogràfica en base de dades com Pubmed, Cuiden i altres, en la que es seleccionen 20 articles científics que parlen sobre percepció i grau de coneixements dels pacients. Resultats: Diferents autors han coincidit en que hi ha un dèficit en el grau de coneixements com també una mancança de percepció sobre els riscos, això comporta seriosos problemes en aquestes persones com també que tinguin una mala qualitat de vida. Conclusió: Podem concloure que el grau de coneixements i la percepció de les persones són dos factors molt importants per prevenir el peu diabètic. El no tenir aquets factors i uns cuidatges adequats dels peus pot desencadenar en la probabilitat de patir una amputació dels membres inferiors. Per tant una correcta educació sanitària significa educar al pacient amb habilitats i destreses per afrontar les exigències de la malaltia.
