    Abstract:
Objectives: Main: To know the use of larval therapy in the management of devitalized tissue in chronic wounds. Specific objectives: Identify the indications of larval therapy and its effectiveness in the debridement of chronic wounds. Know the sustainability of this treatment from an economic perspective. Methodology: An exhaustive search was carried out on larval therapy in chronic wounds, which was carried out in national and international health sciences databases: Medline via Pubmed, Scopus, Cinahl, IME, Cuiden plus, Central Biomed Journals and Cochrane Plus. The search equation selected was as follows: Debridement OR Chronic wounds AND Larval therapy OR Lucilia Sericata OR Maggot therapy OR Larva * In Spanish, Catalan and English and with a maximum of 5 years old. Results: Initially 2709 articles on larval therapy were located, of which after applying the inclusion / exclusion criteria, eliminating the duplicates and making a critical reading, 51 were left. The most prolific database was Scopus with a wide difference, the documents found are of very diverse typology but the vast majority are review articles, reports on empirical studies or case studies. Conclusions: Larval therapy is a therapy indicated for multiple pathologies and with few contraindications. It provides a fast, effective and beneficial debridement in terms of reducing infection and inflammation, improving cellular activity and stimulating healing. Larval therapy is economically viable, its speed and effectiveness mean savings in material and work time.
