Cruise tourism in the port of Tarragona

Abstract:
In recent years, cruise tourism in the port of Tarragona has experienced an accelerated development. In 2017 this port has reached a record number of cruise passengers and for the first time it has become a home port. The aim of the research is to obtain a detailed analysis of the current situation of cruise tourism in Tarragona, in order to know where it is heading towards. Through a compilation of existing data, we have examined the evolution of this type of tourism in Tarragona as well as its causes. Besides, we have tried to determine which type of cruise passengers and cruise companies stops in this port, which is the impact of this kind of traffic for the city and for the zone, and which are its future prospects.
