Abstract:
The functional territorial area of Penedès, formed by the local administrative divisions of Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès, el Garraf and southern Anoia, has 24% of his territory included in the Pla d’Espais d’Interès Natural, a digit well below to the Catalan average (33%). In addition, as a result of a dynamics of expansion, there have been processes of fragmentation and homogenization of the landscape with important impacts, such as the massive growth of urban and road systems, the numerous lines of high voltage or high number of industrial estates. In view of this situation, the main theme of this work is ecological connectivity, which refers to the capacity of the movement of species between different ecosystems and protected areas, but from the perspective and understanding that ecological connectivity is, also, an element of support for landscape continuity. The principal objective is the creation of a proposal of an ecological connectivity and landscape continuity between the protected natural areas of Penedès. The work is structured in the following devices: introduction, theoretical framework, methodology, previous stage, main sentence and conclusions. The main sentence is dedicated exclusively to the development of the proposal by means of the identification of conditioners and structural components. The methodology followed is elaborated using different readings, studies and works from ecological connectivity in Catalonia and Costa Rica, in such a way that this work is based on the compilation and analysis of the already existing information, and it is developed especially through the elaboration of cartography with ArcGis program. The development of the work also has required visits of fieldwork, meetings with experts from the Penedès territory for the verification of information, electronic inquiries to various organizations and face-to-face visits to the Department de Territori i Sostenibilitat de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
