Abstract:
Objectives: According to the literature, sleep is very important in people's day to day because the bad quality of it produces different problems, such as increased levels of aggressiveness. For this reason, the objective of this research was how sleep quality and aggressiveness are related; and on the other hand, see how the gender and age of people affect in their quality of sleep and their levels of aggressiveness. Methodology: Two questionnaires were used to carry out this study, which were administered online to 730 people. These are the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), with which the participants' sleep quality was evaluated, and the Aggression Questionnaire (AQ), which evaluated the levels of physical and verbal aggressiveness, hostility and anger. Results: The results indicate that bad sleep quality and aggressiveness levels match positively, that is, the worse quality of sleep a person has, the higher levels of aggressiveness they will show. Likewise, the study has shown that men have a better quality of sleep than women and, at the same time, men have higher levels of physical aggressiveness. Women, on the other hand, have higher levels of anger than men. Finally, it should be noted that the results have reflected a decrease in levels of aggressiveness with the age increase of people. Conclusion: In conclusion, it is important to take care of each one’s quality of sleep to achieve a decrease in the levels of aggressiveness of people, and especially, in young people, because they are the ones that showed the highest levels of aggressiveness.
