    Abstract:
Introduction and justification: premature babies suffer from more risks after birth, requiring specialized care and attention that often results in invasive techniques, difficulties in parentchild bonding and long stays in hospital. The use of music as therapy could be interesting for the cognitive and sensory development of the baby when it belongs to the “Newborn Individualized Develpmental Care and Assessment Program” (NIDCAP) and the ‘’Development Centered Care (CCD)” that is carried out in the majority of neonatal care units. If the newborn's environment is conditioned and adapted to the pertinent needs at each specific moment, adaptation to extrauterine life and reduction of anxiety for the family benefits and improves. Objectives: to know about the opinion of healthcare professionals, music therapists and premature’s parents about its possible integration in Neonatal Care Units. Methodology: descriptive transversal study carried out between September 2019 and May 2020. As a data collection instrument, three questionnaires were completed by the participating sample consisting of health professionals from the neonatal units in Spain, parents of preterm infants and music therapists. Results: about the 91% (30/33) of healthcare professionals, 69% (20/29) of parents of premature babies, and 100% of music therapists who have participated in this study are aware of music therapy within the healthcare setting, including participating sometime in this therapy. And the 84% (28/33) of the healthcare providers, 72% (21/29) of the parents and 100% of music therapists, believe that it directly favors the premature newborn by improving their vital signs and their general state, and also their family and healthcare professionals. In addition, they support its viability and integration in the care plan. Conclusion: Health professionals, parents and music therapists argue that music therapy has beneficial effects on preterm infants and their environment. Parents of premature babies and health professionals are familiar with music therapy and all three types of samples trust in the possibility of integrating it into neonatal units, thus favoring the work environment and those to whom the technique is applied directly and indirectly. In short, almost all of the participants in this study support the use of music therapy and they consider it’s has positive effects int the neonatal unit.
