Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Mental health has coexisted with social stigmas for many years. This fact has also affected its therapies like, in this case, the Electroconvulsive Therapy. Other treatments, such as pharmacotherapy, are chosen because the results have been studied deeply. As expected, nursing cares are playing key roles in this treatment, hence the purpose of my work, discovering if nursing cares are beneficial for patients with mental disorders in Electronvulsive Therapies. METHODOLOGY: An article search is done through databases like PubMed, Cinahl, Scopus, Web of Science and CUIDEN, using specific search items obtained from DeCS descriptors (Health ScienceDescriptors) and MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). These articles will be submitted to quality standards according to Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) manual.RESULTS:Of the 113 articles found during the search, only 18 of them accomplished all the standards. After the exhaustive reading of all its content, a total of 11 articles were selected, analysed and related to the theory.CONCLUSIONS: Despite the progress and the improvements done on Electroconvulsive Therapy, including both patients and professionals, there are still so many fields to keep investigating. As future health professionals, we have to foster and support the formation on the treatments that affect patients with mental disorders, as experiences in this process affect the results directly. INTRODUCCIÓN: La salud mental ha convivido con el estigma durante muchos años, hecho que ha afectado también a sus terapias, en este caso, la Terapia Electroconvulsiva. Se opta por otros tratamientos donde los resultados han sido estudiados más profundamente, como la farmacoterapia. Como es de esperar, los cuidados de enfermería suponen un papel clave en este tratamiento, de aquí el propósito de este trabajo, si son beneficiosos los cuidados de enfermería en la Terapia Electroconvulsiva para los pacientes con trastornos mentales.METODOLOGÍA: Se realiza una búsqueda de artículos en las bases de datos PubMed, Cinahl, Scopus, Web of Science y CUIDEN, utilizando unos términos de búsqueda específicos que se obtienen a partir de descriptores DeCS (Descriptores de Ciencias de la Salud) y MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). Estos artículos se someterán a unos criterios de calidad según el manual de Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI). RESULTADOS: De los 113 artículos encontradosen la búsqueda, solo 18 de ellos cumplían con los criterios. Después de la lectura completa de todo su contenido, se seleccionaron un total de 11 artículos, los cuales se analizaron y relacionaron con la teoría encontrada. CONCLUSIONES: Todo y haber avances y mejoras en la Terapia Electroconvulsiva, incluyendo tanto a los pacientes como a los profesionales, aún quedan campos donde investigar. Como futuros profesionales de la salud, se tiene que promover y apoyar la formación en los tratamientos que afectan a los pacientes con trastornos mentales, ya que las experiencias en este proceso, afectan directamente a los resultados.
