Abstract:
This project is the result of stripping glances, dusting off memory and stripping preexistence. Vilaseca comes from an agricultural past that was overshadowed by the chemical industry and buried by the arrival of tourism. Today the town is straddling a town and a dormitory city, causing urban and social conflicts such as those presented in this project. All popular, daily and local economic activity lies in the historic centre of Vilaseca. Life starts from this centre and flows towards its historical axis, dispersing as it advances towards the eastern end. An extreme lacking in activity and residual character, with solid and limited limits, behind which hides a cooperative past and some spaces for opportunity and reflection. The intervention seeks to activate these spaces presents in the sector in order to dynamize the historical axis. May the life that is now dispersed until it disappears flow through the entire historical axis, nurturing and revaluing it. The historical axis ceases to be a line and becomes a bouquet, which twists, is introduced. Reoccupying these spaces of opportunity that the popular and industrial architecture present in the area offers us. Treated with the same affection and with the same outlook, it is proposed to activate them from the local, autonomous and sustainable collaborative life and economy. The project seeks, based on the following three premises, to provide the intervention as a whole with character, its own language and homogeneity: Blurring limits: The language of urban space is introduced into interior spaces and vice versa, thus blurring the limited limits between interior and exterior space. Materiality: The spaces already have a high quality. It seeks to intensify the atmosphere of the places, working with and from the existing material and where what is proposed is understood as an extension of the pre-existing. Temporality: Spaces, like society, are the object of continuous transformation and change. The continent-content relationship has allowed these spaces to continue to play an important role in the social and urban framework today. The proposal seeks to solve the needs of today's society, which in fifty will not be the same. Therefore, it is not intended to give an absolute, definitive and timeless answer, but to play with the tools that time and space have given us.
