Abstract:
Teleworking is a type of work that has experienced a significant increase in the last year and can have both positive and negative consequences for the people who do it. This work focuses on the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages perceived by teleworkers, and the aim was to relate this perception to sociodemographic variables. Likewise, the study was also intended to shed light on their preferences for teleworking in the future. Finally, the aim was to determine whether this type of work facilitates work-life balance or, on the contrary, hinders it. In order to achieve this objective, a survey was administered to 354 people, 142 of whom were men and 212 were women. The survey asked about some aspects of perception and work-life balance, as well as the employees' preferences. The results show that employees' responses indicate that telework is perceived more positively by those with greater ICT skills, hierarchical level or experience. With regard to future preference, no differences were found according to gender, but differences were found according to characteristics such as family situation or knowledge of technology. Finally, with respect to work-life balance, it can be observed that the personal situation of the worker is very important.
