Lipidomic profile of immunological non-responders hiv-positive patients

Abstract:
The recovery of CD4+ T-cell proliferation does not occur in some patients after antiretroviral initiation, these patients are called immunological non-responders. The study of molecules for early identification of these patients is innovative. In this study, the lipidomics of HIV-positive patients before and after initiation of antiretroviral treatment were analysed in CD4+ T- and CD8+ T-cells. We identified differences in the lipid profiles in the CD4+ T-cell between the immunological responders and immunological non-responders. The different lipid species could be further analysed in future research as possible biomarkers of immunological non-responders due to their relation with poor immune system recovery.
