Abstract: Film adaptations of literary classics have often been subject to prejudgement and even discredit. This dissertation compares Much Ado About Nothing, the comedy by Shakespeare, and its adaptation in a 1993 film by Kenneth Branagh. By working on these two media, play and film, the principal purposes of this project are to study the adaptation process by analysing how the version modifies the real text and the effect of these modifications. By citing many experts’ opinions in reviews, essays, and books to study how critical opinion reacted to the fidelity of Branagh’s adaptation, it is found that this version is universally admired and respected by the spectator. Les adaptacions cinematogràfiques de clàssics literaris sovint han estat objecte de prejudicis i fins i tot de descrèdit. Aquesta tesi compara Much Ado About Nothing, la comèdia de Shakespeare, i la seva adaptació a una pel·lícula de 1993 de Kenneth Branagh. Treballant aquests dos mitjans, el joc i el cinema, els objectius principals d'aquest projecte són estudiar el procés d'adaptació analitzant com la versió modifica el text real i l'efecte d'aquestes modificacions. Citant les opinions de molts experts en ressenyes, assajos i llibres per estudiar com va reaccionar la crítica davant la fidelitat de l'adaptació de Branagh, es constata que aquesta versió és universalment admirada i respectada per l'espectador.
