    Abstract:
The reactions to the climate crisis are as vast as the array of socioeconomic and personal contexts that exist in western society. One of the most notorious responses is inaction. The plethora of perspectives justifies the increased popularity of climate change as a literary theme during the last decade. This thesis presents some reactions to climate change in the current reality of the United States, and the psychological reasons that contribute to environmental inaction. This theoretical background is then used to analyze the presence of climate change as a socioeconomic issue, alongside the responses to it in Barbara Kingsolver’s Flight Behavior. In addition, it serves to discuss the role of literature in the environmental crisis.
