Abstract:
In this project, I will be analysing the translation of humour in the Spanish version of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾ by Sue Townsend. I will be studying and classifying the occurrences of humour in Townsend’s original work, as well as their translation into Spanish. In this study, I distinguish between different types of humour and study different translation techniques in order to examine how the translator transferred humorous occurrences into the target text and decide what translation strategy was followed.
