    Abstract:
In this final degree project, it is proposed the design of a tubular chassis for a single-seater competition electric vehicle. The design meets with the requirements set out in the regulations of the Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) regarding the chassis. Initially, it is developed the theoretical foundation of the chassis, also there are explained the most important parameters and requirements to consider. In addition, it is explained the history of the chassis in competition and the types of structures considering their advantages and disadvantages. Next, the different parts that make up the chassis structure and its most important components are explained. In a competitive chassis, the structure must ensure good dynamic behaviour, driving comfort and safety. The study of the components is essential before making the design so that it is optimal. The fact that the powertrain has an electric motor determines the entire design that will be different from a conventional internal combustion vehicle. The three-dimensional CAD design is performed with CATIA V5 software, and the process followed is detailed. Regarding the simulations, these are elaborated by means of a finite element analysis using ANSYS Mechanical software. In this project there are exposed different studies such as the theoretical framework of the competition, the dimensioning of the tubular bars, the verification of the resistance of the chassis to different load situations, the torsional stiffness, and the dynamic behaviour by means of a modal analysis. Also, it includes an explanation of the manufacturing process. The objective of this project is to obtain a design that meets all the initially proposed requirements. Regarding the first design, some modifications have been made to comply with the requirements of the studies carried out.
