Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to analyze the right to equality and the rights of political participation from a gender perspective, taking into account the gender perspective implies the existence of an unequal distribution of power between genders in all classes. Upon recognition of the principle of equality between men and women and the establishment of the right of suffrage, the state and the people will begin to raise the role of women in decision-making. This paper presents a legal analysis of how the system has tried to enforce this power of women and at the same time is done, a brief mention in relation to the historical process that has been followed in Spain is performed and the European Union. Throughout the work the different forms of citizen participation in political, access to public office and the figure of the parties as an expression of political pluralism in society are analyzed and the principle of equality is studied within the Spanish Constitution 1978. Finally, the study focuses on examining how the recognition of the right to equality of women in relation to the rights of political participation materializes. With the completion of this final degree work is to make a reflection of how the state has tried to advocate for equality is real and effective. At this point we must be aware that there is still a long way to go if you want to get someday sex involving only a biological differentiation and not a difference of opportunities.
