    Abstract:
Wastewater-based epidemiology is a promising tool to anticipate potential outbreaks, such as COVID-19. Passive sampling is a practical and affordable alternative to traditional sampling, especially at smaller scales. In this study, torpedo devices (3D-printed sampler) containing electronegative membranes were applied to the analysis of SARS-CoV-2 and 6 other human viruses in wastewater samples from a wastewater treatment plant and from an aged care facility. Passive samples were compared to 24-h time proportional composite samples. In general, passive samplers showed to be a promising and useful tool to replace data obtained with automatic samplers in small facilities.
