Film title translation from English into Spanish: A corpus-based analysis

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to analyse the diachronic evolution of the translation of film titles from English into Spanish from the years 1980 to 2021. In order to accomplish this objective, two corpora comprised of English film titles and their corresponding translations into Spanish will be collected, classified, and analysed according to the methods and techniques used during their rendering. The results obtained have shown a significant evolution in film title translation trends since English is a lingua franca and thus, its impact has increased all throughout the decades.
