Abstract: This project aims to shed light on Audiovisual Translation (AVT) by approaching one of its principal modalities of dubbing translation. It focuses on the English-Spanish dubbing translation of swearwords in the American teen drama 13 reasons why (Yorkey: 2017-2020). A number of one hundred and fifty-six examples have been extracted and analyzed from this TV series to find out the most recurrent translation strategy, which turns out to be the equivalence technique. Moreover, the more uttered bad word in this show appears to be fucking, which gives an idea of the importance of slang in teenage language. In addition, I have conducted a statistic analysis to discover that the translator has generally kept the nuance of slang load of the show.
