Abstract: The project addresses the subjectivity analysis and comparison of two characters from slave narratives: the analysis of Frederick Douglass and Linda Brent. The subjectivity has been based on the Art of Rhetorics of Aristotle since slave characters tend to master this art. Therefore, the research was conducted to 1) analyze how the characters constructed their subjectivities within the novels and 2) whether the characters mastered the Art of Rhetorics or not or if they used other rhetorical techniques.
