    Abstract:
The concept of the microbiome has gained relevance in the scientific literature recently, however, most studies are based on the study of the bacteriome, that is, the bacterial part of the microbiome. Thanks to the omic sciences, it has been possible to study new components of the microbiome, such as the virome, which is the set of viruses that inhabit the human body. In this bibliographic review it has been studied how the viruses of the intestinal tract, both bacteriophages and eukaryotes, have the ability to interact with the microbiota and the human body in relationships beyond parasitism. Based on this knowledge, several possible biotechnological applications have been proposed.
